1.
Slowly, licks the flow Into your weary soul Swallow the water You're going to drown Gather up the water Through your gaping mouth Sweet brittle child And be at peace Smaller than ever A bed in the river Your crystal eyes searching the darkness A tired curl sweeps upon your stricken complexion Your panic is ceased Your heart still softly beating
2.
Dead as I lay Alone inside the earth But for a moth, buried with me I wait for my body to disappear The dreadful beauty Consoles my weeping heart Bereaved of form My soul can carry on He staggers upon my brow Taking his life from me And raises his wings So triumphantly He lingers on I am awake I could hear you whisper goodbye Now we wait for my body To slowly disappear The dreadful beauty Consoles my weeping heart Bereaved of form My soul can carry on
3.
The day has come And the movement could kill me My only creation is gone Falling leaves will go unnoticed While you're away I look for comfort in the pain Of heavy weight upon my shoulders Stood before the congregation Wishing time away The pale bodies and oh, the black Weep a mourning song for him There in the box my son lies wasted Victim of the earth A small portrait in an ochre frame Flits its wistful eyes for them
4.
The water flickers in the twilight With glory as the day goes The birds and bees Above the trees Singing on Picturesque, the river rich with beauty Defiled by the memory A fragile dream Among the stream Where he drowned
5.
Your face is lost within my memory My precious one, I'm sorry I can't remember I caress your weary head in my mind But your curing smile is gone Your lips a wretched blue Your eyes roll back and seem to look right through me Each day, I stare into a photograph To remind me how you looked I struggle just to see you as you were My beloved son a cold body in my arms My blood, regretfully a soul without a face Your image fades Tainted in my memory A lifeless figure all I see Casting leaves into the river

about

It is with great pleasure that I finally introduce That Amber Lit Morning – a dreary journey through sadness and regret, following a tragic end for a young boy who played too close to the river...

For those of you who have arrived here from my previous releases under the old band name Hirsute, thank you very much indeed for your continued support. For those of you who are hearing my music for the first time, welcome and thank you for listening.

Find yourself a quiet place, dim the lights, and enjoy.

about

Enter the Soil Wellington, New Zealand

Enter the Soil is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Justin Chorley. Balancing progressive influences from early Opeth through to the delightfully dreary doom metal goodness of bands like Ahab and My Dying Bride, Enter the Soil is brooding and emotional, telling musical tales with a sound grounded in evocative harmonies, punctuated with heavy rhythms and a mixture of growls and soft vocals. ... more
